My month-old computer died last week.  I just got it back from the doctor yesterday, but I think they tampered with something, so now I can't use Adobe Acrobat or Yahoo Music Jukebox (at least those are the only two problems I've noticed so far).  I guess I'll have to take it back.  Luckily, I have internet access, so I can use Pandora.  Honestly, that has to be one of the greatest ideas of the 21st century (so far, right?).  Personalized radio!
I'm going to see The Dark Knight tonight with some of my co-workers.  I'm so excited!  At first I just thought it would be fun to go to a movie with some of my friends, but I watched Batman Begins last week and I actually liked it!  Shocking.  So now I'm excited to see the movie for its own sake.  See?  I'm improving.

P.S.  The Beatles' original recording of Hey Jude is so much better than Paul McCartney's solo version.  Blah.

Ok, so my last post was, what, in March? April? Not so long ago, anyway...yet it was just long enough for me to lose my password (again). Naturally. However, for the good news: I have a laptop!! Yes, I splurged. You have to understand, though...how is a college student supposed to survive in the 21st century without internet access??? Let me just say, I was not surviving very well. Especially with my summer classes. The computer labs have terrible summer hours, so I was missing quizzes and study sessions right and left. Being right next to campus has saved my butt. I can tap into university wifi! Yea-ah!
Anyway, this also means I might stand a chance of keeping this updated. For my own sake, of course. I went through a brief period of actually writing in my journal, but it didn't last long. Sometimes you just can't bear to put your thoughts onto paper, and that was happening with such increasing frequency that I simply stopped writing. Then how, you may well ask, is this supposed to be better? Um, well, maybe it won't be.

Oh, by the way, I found this survey that I wanted to post (thanks Shelly!).  What can I say?  When I'm back, I'm back!  :D

And now, I close.  I'm still sick, exhausted, and ready for bed, but I'm glad to be here.  It is somehow therapeutic.

It is the Friday before finals, it snowed yesterday, and I'm back on board!!

I know that catch phrase is being waaay overused right now, but I'm sooooo excited!! Rags to Riches was so brilliant!

Have you ever noticed that no matter how wonderful a horse is, people will always find excuses to downplay their success? Street Sense in the Derby: Oh, it's just because he got a perfect rail trip. Curlin in the Preakness: Oh, it's just because Street Sense was unfocused and Calvin Borel looked back. Rags to Riches in the Belmont: Oh, it's just because she had a 5lb weight allowance. Couldn't it be, perhaps (and I know this is a stretch), that these are simply amazing racehorses? *gasp* Heaven forbid we actually give the horse credit for their talent.

So, we have the first filly in over a century win the Belmont Stakes in the most exciting race I've ever watched. It could have gone either way, and I wouldn't have been disappointed either way...but this goes way past "not disappointed." I'm absolutely thrilled! Of course, the Preakness was exciting, too, but I was more disappointed, than anything at the time. Yes, she had a 5lb weight allowance, but she stumbled (badly), and ran wide the whole time!

I could have cried during that stretch run. It was reminiscent of the Ruffian match race, except RtoR didn't break down. They were dead even, then she's in front, he's in front, back and forth. Curlin could have won if the wire had been another stride away...and it would be Rags to Riches if it had been another two strides away. Back and forth.

Ok, I have to close. Mom is coming tomorrow (or tonight late) and I still need to shower, clean my room, and finish studying for finals. However, don't forget to watch Ruffian tonight on ABC!! I'm going to for sure. I still have to buy a box of Kleenex, though. Maybe I'll use a roll of toilet paper, instead.

Todd Pletcher announced today that Rags to Riches is running! It would be amazing if she won it. My picks: Curlin, Rags to Riches, Imawildandcrazyguy. I don't think Hard Spun will be a factor on Saturday. (Watch him win by 50 lengths, just to prove me wrong. [insert disgruntled smiley here])

They sold him! They sold Street Sense! (Ok, breeding rights, but still!) ...and my water is fizzing. :(

I finally learned how to make icons. Hehehehe. I was pretty excited. So excited, in fact, that I decided to post them here! Mostly because I don't have anything else to do with the pictures, so I thought I might as well. Fun fun fun!

As of today, Street Sense will not be running in the Belmont on June 9. He will spend the summer prepping for the Travers in August as well as the BC Classic in October. Can he dethrone the reigning champion?

I'm going big-time, now...breaking out of my technologically backward shell. Oh boy. I've been seeing all of these people with "book review" blogs/journals/etc, and thought, 'hey, that's a good idea!' I mean, I'm sort of doing that already, so I created another journal called "Lit Junkies, Inc." I guess it's dumb, but as I mentioned, I feel sort of...behind the rest of my generation. I'm catching up, ok? I just need some time to get acclimated.
